Ultra Hydra ARAM Mayhem guide: 7,050-gold quest and champion fit
Ultra Hydra ARAM Mayhem 16.17 guide: build Profane, Ravenous and Titanic Hydra for 7,050 gold, then compare reward stats and champion fit.
55.59% win rate, but the quest costs 7,050 gold
Ultra Hydra requires all three Hydra items and 7,050 gold. In patch 16.17, this Prismatic augment is T3 with a 55.59% win rate and 18.86% pick rate. The three quest items combine into Ultra Hydra. Its value depends on the purchase order, the roughly 5,400-gold reward estimate, and whether the champion can use the stats.
| Item | Patch 16.17 |
|---|---|
| Augment | Ultra Hydra |
| Rarity | Prismatic |
| Current tier | T3 |
| Win rate | 55.59% |
| Pick rate | 18.86% |
| Quest target | Obtain Ravenous Hydra, Profane Hydra and Titanic Hydra |
How the quest works
Each time you finish a Hydra item, Ultra Hydra gives you a Tiamat. The quest needs Ravenous Hydra, Profane Hydra and Titanic Hydra. Once all three are complete, they combine into Ultra Hydra. The first item costs full price; the next two use the free Tiamats, so you only pay the remaining combine cost.
Build Profane first, then Ravenous and Titanic
The standard route is Profane Hydra first, then Ravenous Hydra, then Titanic Hydra. Profane is the cheapest completed item, and each later item saves the 1,200-gold Tiamat component.
| Step | Purchase | Gold this step | Running total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Profane Hydra | 2850 | 2850 |
| 2 | Use the free Tiamat to build Ravenous Hydra | 2100 | 4950 |
| 3 | Use the free Tiamat to build Titanic Hydra | 2100 | 7050 |
With 1,400 starting gold, you still need 5,650 more. Put the Tiamat from Profane Hydra straight into Ravenous Hydra, then save the second one for Titanic Hydra. This avoids duplicate components and keeps the inventory manageable.
5,400 gold is not the quest cost
The two numbers measure different things. 7,050 is the cash needed for the three quest items. Roughly 5,400 is an estimate of the reward value: about 3,000 gold in extra stats plus two Tiamats worth 1,200 each. It is not Ultra Hydra’s shop price.
| Number | Meaning | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| 7050 | Cash needed for all three Hydra items | Calculated from patch 16.17 item prices |
| About 5,400 | Estimated extra value from Ultra Hydra | About 3,000 in stats plus two Tiamats |
Ultra Hydra shows 200 attack damage, 25 ability haste, 25 lethality, 1,000 health and 15% omnivamp. Before the merge, the three items total 160 attack damage, 25 haste, 18 lethality, 600 health and 12% lifesteal. The direct gain is 40 attack damage, 7 lethality and 400 health, while lifesteal becomes omnivamp that also covers spell damage. Three slots become one.
Fighting before and after the merge
All three Hydra items are useful before the quest finishes, and their active effects work separately. At close range, chaining the actives adds area damage and links into attacks or executes. After the merge, Ultra Hydra concentrates the damage and sustain in one item and frees two slots.
Check whether the champion uses every stat
This augment loses value when its stats go unused. Physical melee champions with strong AD scaling, quick access to carries, or frequent attacks make better use of the package. Good examples include
Aatrox ,
Rengar ,
Fiora ,
Riven and
Tryndamere . Each meets several of these conditions and can use the health and omnivamp.
| Fit | Champion examples | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| High AD scaling and sustain | Aatrox, Fiora, Riven | Uses attack damage, spell damage and omnivamp |
| Dive and carry burst | Rengar, Kayn, Jarvan IV | Reaches Hydra active and melee range |
| Frequent attacks and extended fights | Tryndamere, Trundle, Sett | Turns damage, health and sustain into longer fights |
| Champions linked in current data | Sett, Jarvan IV, Trundle, Graves, Kayn, Lee Sin | Related picks, not a win-rate ranking |
Hecarim ,
Viego and
Katarina can also use close-range burst, but they do not always convert every point of attack damage, health and omnivamp into useful power. Check the rest of the build instead of picking it only because the champion can dive.
Do not mix up the numbers
Whether to pick Ultra Hydra , check two things: can the champion use every stat, and can the match reach 7,050 gold? A melee carry with a lead can invest in the late-game ceiling. When behind, short on defenses, or unable to reach targets, finish the normal core build first.
FAQ
Q: Which three items does the Ultra Hydra quest require?
You need Ravenous Hydra, Profane Hydra and Titanic Hydra. Each completed item grants a Tiamat, and all three combine into Ultra Hydra.
Q: Why build Profane Hydra first?
Profane Hydra costs 2,850 gold, the lowest of the three quest items. Building it first gets the Tiamat sooner, so each later item needs one fewer component.
Q: What is the difference between 5,400 value and 7,050 cost?
7,050 is the cash needed for all three items after the two free Tiamats. About 5,400 estimates the extra stats and two Tiamats; it is not a shop price.
Q: Which champions fit Ultra Hydra?
Physical champions with strong AD scaling, reliable access to targets, frequent attacks, and good use of health and omnivamp fit best. Aatrox, Rengar and Fiora are examples.
Q: Should ranged champions take Ultra Hydra?
Most ranged champions are poor fits. The quest costs 7,050 gold and the active effects need close range. Consider it only on a ranged champion who can stay close and use the attack damage and sustain.
